1st Annual Plein Air at Castle Hill
to Benefit IAA Programming

Friday, Saturday & Sunday

October 20 – 22, 2023

Join us for three days of making art in one of the most beautiful locations on the Northshore.

Don’t miss this special opportunity to paint en plein air throughout the grounds and gardens surrounding the historic Crane Castle. Autumn is a glorious time of year at Castle Hill. Artists who work in oils, watercolor, acrylic and pastel are invited to create on-site over the weekend. The IAA will be on hand in the Casino Bachelors’ Quarters and throughout the grounds to support artists with music, snacks, drinks and cheerleading. Can’t participate on Friday because of work or other commitments? Attend Saturday and Sunday.

This event is open to ALL skill levels.

Saturday and Sunday
from 10am to 11:30am

Join Jess Yurwitz, Slow River owner, to experience the beautiful Crane Estate in a whole new way! As part of our plein air festival, Jess will lead FREE 90-Minute Beginner Sketching Lessons on Saturday, Oct. 21st and Sunday, Oct. 22nd at 10am. These art adventures are the perfect introduction to sketching for anyone curious about plein air painting or who just wants a fun, new hobby.

No experience or talent necessary!

Jess will start our adventure with a 30-minute sketching lesson at the top of the famous Grand Alee. We will wander the Crane Estate together to sketch the beautiful views. Finally, we will meet back at the estate steps to share some tips for adding sketching into your life.
